The 2009 vintage reds are showing excellent quality and ripeness at slightly lower alcohol levels. Our 2009 Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon is approachable now and should be consumed within 8 years of the vintage.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
Grown in top vineyards across the Napa Valley, Starmont Cabernet lots were hand selected for their rich and robust flavors and fine tannins. We harvest the fruit in the early morning to preserve the fresh flavors and keep the skins intact. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were carefully sorted and de-stemmed, but not crushed, leaving over 90% whole berries. The berries and juice were cold soaked and fermented, and then aged for 16 months in 25% new French oak.
Color: dark red with good density
Aroma: sweet red and black currants, brambly blackberry jam, black olive, dried herbs and violets
Taste: soft entry, round with medium weight, toasty oak notes, and very good length
